Summary
Central Recruitment is currently working with a London-based charity dedicated to preventing homelessness and supporting individuals in rebuilding their lives.
Our client is currently recruiting for two Floating Support Workers to work in the Westminster area at a service that provides flexible housing-related support, to enable clients to continue to live independently within their own home, regardless of tenure type.
• 37.5 hours per week
• Monday - Friday
• Shifts: Between 08:00 - 18:00, core working hours are 10:00 - 16:00
• Temporary: approx. 3 months
• £16.69 per hour (£14.89 per hour, with £1.80 holiday pay)
Please note: you will be required to work from the office in Vauxhall and complete 3 days per week hybrid working and supporting clients within the community and their own homes. This role involves lone working. Travel expenses can be claimed for this role.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
• Manage a caseload of up to 27 clients, delivering regular key work sessions resulting in support plans
• Complete detailed risk assessments and management plans
• Provide housing advice, including tenancy support, rights/responsibilities, and advocacy
• Support clients to develop independent living skills (e.g. budgeting, bills, household management)
• Assist clients moving from temporary to permanent housing, including property bidding, viewings, and relocation
• Liaise with local housing authorities, landlords, and partner agencies
• Identify, report, and follow up safeguarding concerns to minimise risk
• Work collaboratively with internal/external services to maximise support, resources, and funding
• Encourage engagement in community activities and deliver groups based on client needs
• Support clients into employment, education, or training opportunities
• Contribute to office duties, including rota and drop-in services
• Maintain accurate and compliant client records
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• Experience in floating support
• Experience and/or understanding of supporting complex needs (e.g. substance use, mental and physical ill health, dual diagnosis, challenging behaviour, risk of homelessness, offending, antisocial behaviour, social isolation, domestic violence, gang-related issues, young parents, leaving care and learning disabilities)
• Ability to support clients with budgeting, benefits, rent arrears, and housing options
• Experience delivering client-centred support to vulnerable individuals with high needs and risk
• Skilled in needs assessment, risk management, and delivering effective action plans
• Ability to liaise effectively with multiple agencies to enhance client support
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and conducting comprehensive risk assessments
• Ability to work within a strengths-based, recovery-focused approach to promote independence
• Good IT skills
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Current valid right to work in the UK
• Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
• A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
• Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
