About the Role
Southern Housing is seeking an experienced Commercial Asset Manager to provide specialist support within the Commercial & Retail team. This temporary role covers long‑term sickness and offers the opportunity to manage a diverse commercial property portfolio across London and the South East.

You’ll take responsibility for maximising asset performance, ensuring compliance, managing landlord/tenant relationships, and supporting strategic decision‑making across the commercial estate.

Key Responsibilities
Manage a varied commercial property portfolio, ensuring assets are well‑maintained, compliant and performing effectively.

Lead on landlord and tenant matters including leases, rent reviews, renewals, service charges and property inspections.

Oversee asset performance, identifying opportunities to improve income, reduce risk and enhance long‑term value.

Conduct regular site visits to assess condition, compliance and tenant engagement.

Work closely with internal teams including finance, legal, estates and senior leadership.

Support strategic planning, reporting and decision‑making within the Commercial & Retail function.

Ensure all activity aligns with organisational policies, statutory requirements and best practice.

Maintain accurate records, documentation and asset data.

About You
You will bring:

Strong experience in commercial property or asset management.

Knowledge of leases, landlord/tenant legislation, service charges and property compliance.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to manage a busy workload across office, remote and site‑based environments.

Strong analytical skills and confidence interpreting asset and financial data.

A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with the ability to work independently.

Desirable:

Professional property qualification (e.g., RICS) or equivalent experience.
