About the Role
Somerset Council is seeking an experienced Supported Housing Case Manager to deliver high‑quality tenancy management and support services across several sheltered housing schemes. You’ll oversee approximately 140–160 tenancies, ensuring residents live safely, independently and with access to the right support.

This role is ideal for someone confident managing complex cases, working with vulnerable tenants, and collaborating with multi‑agency partners to sustain tenancies and promote wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
Provide pre‑tenancy support, conduct sign‑ups and guide new tenants through their first six weeks.

Deliver ongoing tenancy sustainment through home visits, advice, and case management.

Manage housing‑related enquiries, including complex or sensitive cases, and record all actions accurately.

Attend multi‑agency panels, contribute to decision‑making and support problem‑solving.

Lead on legal action for tenancy breaches, including injunctions or possession proceedings.

Conduct annual tenancy checks, property inspections and end‑of‑tenancy processes.

Provide advice on welfare benefits, budgeting, money management and tenancy responsibilities.

Complete risk assessments, safeguarding actions and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans.

Ensure compliance with health & safety, fire safety and communal area inspections.

Promote independence through assistive technology and support tenants with low‑level mental health needs.

Support service development by providing data, insights and evidence for improvement.

About You
Essential experience & knowledge:

Strong understanding of introductory and secure tenancies.

At least 2 years’ housing management experience within a local authority or similar setting.

Experience supporting tenants, managing conflict and resolving disputes.

Knowledge of data protection, safeguarding and customer service values.

Confident working with partners, communities and multi‑agency groups.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Highly organised, assertive, and able to manage a busy caseload.

Skills:

Empathy, negotiation and tact.

Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.

Competent with Microsoft Office and housing systems.

Desirable:

Wider knowledge of housing law.

CIH membership or equivalent professional body.

Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Working Conditions
Travel across sites and tenant homes required.

Lone working at times.

Hybrid working in line with Somerset Council’s Dynamic Working Strategy.
