As an On Street Operative in our Micromobility – Citizen Services team, you’ll help keep London moving by carrying out essential on‑street maintenance that keeps bicycles and e‑Bikes safe, available, and ready for thousands of daily users.
You’ll play a key part in supporting a sustainable transport network. By maintaining the fleet, managing battery swaps, and interacting with the public, your work will have a real and positive impact on the communities who rely on the London Cycle Hire scheme.
What you’ll do as an On Street Operative
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Carry out routine bicycle and e‑Bike maintenance on street, completing basic checks and repairs in line with quality standards.
- Triage and repair bicycles at docking stations or hub locations.
- Transport and swap lithium batteries across the e‑Bike fleet to meet customer demand.
- Operate an e‑Cargo Bike or e‑Van to deliver batteries around the scheme.
- Lock in and release bicycles at docking stations and support Hub duties as needed.
- Provide helpful, professional responses to public, client or sponsor enquiries.
- Log work electronically using mobile devices and report battery/parts usage accurately.

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
- The ability to ride a bicycle confidently and safely in London.
- A willingness to pass an e‑Cargo bike assessment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Good problem‑solving ability and familiarity with Health and Safety requirements.
- Confidence using mobile devices for job tracking.
This role requires a Basic DBS check, which will disclose any unspent convictions in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
