Medacs Healthcare is working in partnership with Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) to recruit a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine & General Internal Medicine to join a progressive, multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality care to older adults across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and the wider South West Wales region.

About the Role
As a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and community‑based care for older adults, while also contributing to the acute medical take.
You will work within a well‑established multidisciplinary team including specialist nurses, therapists, pharmacists, frailty practitioners, and acute physicians.
Responsibilities:

Provide consultant‑level care for older adults across inpatient wards, frailty units, and outpatient clinics
- Participate in the acute medical on‑call rota and support the acute medical take
- Lead and participate in specialist clinics (e.g., frailty, falls, memory, bone health)
- Work collaboratively with MDT colleagues to deliver integrated, patient‑centred care
- Support community‑based pathways and virtual ward models
- Contribute to service development, pathway redesign, and quality improvement

What We're Looking For
Essential:
-
MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Geriatric Medicine and/or General Internal Medicine (or within 6 months of CCT/CESR)
- Broad experience in geriatric medicine and acute/general internal medicine
- Strong communication and teamworking skills
- Right to work in the UK
- DBS check (or willingness to complete)
Desirable:

Subspecialty interest (frailty, orthogeriatrics, dementia, falls, perioperative medicine, etc.)
- Experience in service development, audit, or pathway redesign
- Experience in teaching, research, or leadership roles
