Summary

Location: Bury
Hours: Full-Time

A welcoming primary school in Bury is looking for a SEMH Support Assistant to join their team, working closely with pupils who need additional help managing emotions, behaviour, and engagement with learning.

This is a role where patience, consistency, and understanding make a real difference - not just in the classroom, but in a child's confidence and future.

You'll be supporting pupils who may find school challenging at times, helping them feel more settled, focused, and ready to learn.

Your role will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
• Helping children develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
• Supporting pupils to stay engaged with lessons and classroom routines
• Working alongside the teacher, SENCO, and wider support team
• Encouraging confidence, resilience, and positive relationships
• Creating a calm, structured, and supportive environment

You'll be someone pupils can rely on - a consistent and supportive presence throughout their day.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs
• Ideally has worked in a primary school setting
• Is calm, patient, and able to stay consistent under pressure
• Builds strong relationships based on trust and understanding
• Communicates well and works effectively as part of a team
• Has experience with phonics or Read Write Inc. (RWI) (desirable)

• A full-time role in a supportive primary school
• Guidance from a dedicated consultant
• Opportunities to work in well-resourced, welcoming environments
• Competitive rates of pay
• Ongoing support throughout your placement

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be required to:

• Complete an Enhanced DBS check
• Provide satisfactory references
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

If you are looking for a role where you can support pupils who need structure, patience, and encouragement, we would love to hear from you.
