Summary

Are you an OT with an interest in working with children and young people with mental health needs? This is an exciting opportunity to bring your skills and experience to Hounslow CAMHS as a Band 7 Specialist Occupational Therapist within our Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT).

Occupational therapists in CAMHS are integral members of the multidisciplinary team, focused on improving everyday functioning, participation and wellbeing for children, young people and their families. The post holder will join a growing team of clinicians specialising in complex neurodevelopmental needs and will work closely with psychiatry, nursing, family therapy, psychotherapy, psychology and other occupational therapists to deliver coordinated, holistic care.

The post holder will be involved in specialist neurodevelopmental assessments as well as providing occupational therapy specific assessment and interventions. There will also be opportunities to expand the occupational therapy offer within the service and develop leadership through supported projects and service innovations.

You will be involved in the development, delivery and evaluation of OT services within CAMHS. This would include provision of comprehensive OT assessments and treatments for children presenting with neurodevelopmental conditions. For some cases you will be the primary case manager, for others you may provide input to the case through discipline specific consultation, assessments and interventions. This may include assessment of a child or young person’s motor and sensory development to assess their needs and providing appropriate advice and intervention.

You will work as a key member of a multi-disciplinary team, holding a varied caseload and delivering high quality therapeutic work that is culturally sensitive and family centred. You will be confident in making autonomous clinical decisions, managing risk, and using supervision structures to maintain excellent standards of care. You will also be involved in supervising junior staff and occupational therapy students where appropriate.
