Summary
Seeking active, reliable, empathic, and upbeat professional female support workers to join a dedicated 24/7 support rota for a funny, positive creative woman with high-functioning autism and a neurological injury. [Note: Being female is a genuine occupational requirement for this role under the Equality Act 2010].
This is a "Shadow Support" role focused on re-enablement, independence, community access, and psychological support. This is not a traditional "care" role; you will act as a professional safety net, allowing me to navigate daily life, and the community with confidence.
Key Requirements
Active Lifestyle: You must be physically fit and enjoy walking. I love the countryside; you must be comfortable walking for extended periods in various weather conditions.
Dog Friendly: You must be comfortable with the company of a dog, who is an integral part of my daily life and travel.
Fluent english speaker
Driver with Own Vehicle: You must be a confident driver with a reliable vehicle. (Successful applicants must provide proof of Business Class car insurance).
Neurological Awareness: Ability to follow clear instructions and maintain a sensory-neutral environment (e.g., no strong perfumes or scents).
Professional Compliance: Must be self-employed with a valid UTR, Carers Insurance (£6 pcm - I hate that term but there we go!), the right to work in the UK, DBS and professional references.
What to Expect
Fixed Shifts: Once agreed, shifts are fixed on a monthly rota to ensure my neurological stability.
24/7 Rota: Shifts include daytimes and sleeping nights across seven days a week.
A focus on facilitating independence while maintaining a supportive, calm, and non-intrusive atmosphere.
No two days are the same in this busy, fun disabled woman’s life!
No traditional care, lifting or personal care
Mandatory training and shadowing sessions are required.
Part or full time
If you understand the importance of living your best life despite disability and are looking for a long term role please get in touch
