Summary
Our client is seeking a highly experienced HGV Workshop Controller to oversee their busy workshop in Reading.
This position requires a professional with proven leadership within a commercial vehicle environment, committed to delivering high standards of service, safety, and operational efficiency. The successful HGV Workshop Controller will play a pivotal part in managing workshop operations, motivating the team, and ensuring profitability.
Benefits:
- Salary up to £43,000 per annum plus performance-related bonus
- Monday to Friday (41 hours) with one Saturday morning per month

Duties as a HGV Workshop Controller:
- Lead and motivate the workshop team to meet productivity and quality standards as the HGV Workshop Controller
- Allocate work efficiently among technicians to optimise productivity and profitability
- Drive workshop revenue by maximising labour hours sold and promoting value-added services
- Manage workshop resources, equipment calibration, and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Maintain strong communication with parts, warranty, and service teams to ensure parts availability
- Oversee documentation accuracy and uphold warranty standards
- Promote a safe working environment, supporting audits and ISO standards
- Foster team development through coaching, training, and performance management
- Support customer service by liaising directly with clients when necessary
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an HGV Workshop Controller or in a similar supervisory role within a commercial vehicle workshop
- Strong leadership and organisational skills, with previous managerial experience preferred
- Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to heavy vehicle workshops
- Familiarity with HGV systems, processes, and industry best practices
- Flexible, proactive, and capable of handling multiple priorities
- Ability to work effectively with a team and foster positive working relationships
