Summary
Join us as a Business Risk Lead, Balance Sheet Management (BSM) & Model Risk Management (MRM)
You’ll collaborate across the business to assess the C&I risk and control environment across BSM and MRM identifying and articulating material risks for robust stress testing, thematic reviews and deep dive analysis
You will need to build and scale a front‑to‑back Business Controls Partner team, expanding capability and establishing a strong, integrated unit that partners effectively with the business
Drive the C&I strategy by testing adherence to Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework for Risk Control Standards Assessments, identifying top threats and shaping scenario planning for nominated businesses
You’ll be required to work from the office at least two days per week
What you’ll do
As our Business Risk Lead, you’ll manage and escalate emerging risks at pace. You’ll make sure actions are quickly defined, delivered and owned to maintain a robust Control Environment within risk appetite. As you provide expertise in risk and control oversight across BSM and MRM, you’ll act as the first point of contact for business queries. By partnering closely with the business, you’ll champion Intelligent Risk Taking and a generative Risk Culture, making sure material risks have cost-effective key controls.
You will also lead a small team of Business Risk Partners to support the C&I business. Together, you’ll drive the identification and implementation of continuous improvements in all risk and controls operating practices, simplifying processes for colleagues and improving outcomes for customers.
You’ll also be:
Driving the transformation of risk and control capability across the wider function
Making sure the business maintains strong processes, procedures, controls, training materials and evidential standards to meet legal and regulatory obligations across all jurisdictions
Supporting the interpretation and implementation of regulations and policy, delivering integrated control solutions that address operational, regulatory and conduct risk requirements, and customer outcomes
Monitoring the risk position through operational limits and making sure remediation actions support business aims, enabling executives to discharge their risk and control responsibilities effectively
Supporting the leadership team by managing the interface between the business, Internal Audit, the Second Line of Defence and other critical functions
Coaching your team to continuously improve people and processes, supporting them to meet risk appetite expectations and discharge accountabilities at business Risk Committees

You’ll have a strong understanding of the risks within your aligned business area, including product knowledge. You’ll also have a clear sense of what good looks like in the design and operation of effective controls that support sustainable risk management.
You’ll demonstrate:
Experience and expertise in identifying, assessing and managing risk across Balance Sheet Management and Model Risk Management
The ability to challenge the status quo, stop whenever necessary and experiment on new ways of working to drive stronger insight and greater efficiency
Experience and understanding of AI models and the risks associated with these
A strong commitment to working collaboratively across all Three Lines of Defence to strengthen the overall risk and control environment
