Summary
Thinking about teaching, but not quite ready to dive into full planning and marking? Or maybe you love the buzz of the classroom and want something flexible that still makes a real impact.
This could be your sweet spot.
We're working with a range of welcoming secondary schools across Rotherham looking for confident, reliable Cover Supervisors to keep lessons running smoothly when teachers are away. No teaching qualification needed, just strong presence, good energy, and the ability to keep a class on track.
You'll step into the classroom, deliver pre-set work, and keep things ticking along. Think of yourself as the steady hand in the room.
- Supervising whole classes during teacher absence
- Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials
- Managing behaviour and keeping students focused
- Supporting students with their work where needed
- Creating a calm, positive classroom environment
No late-night planning. No marking marathons. Just good, solid classroom experience.
You don't need to be a qualified teacher, but you do need confidence and a calm, can-do attitude.
- Experience working with young people (schools, coaching, youth work, tutoring - it all counts)
- Strong communication and presence in a classroom
- Ability to think on your feet and stay organised
- A positive, resilient approach
- A genuine interest in education
If you've ever been told "you'd be great in a classroom", this is your sign.
Whether you're exploring teaching, building school experience, or just want flexible work that actually feels worthwhile, this role gives you:
- Classroom experience across different schools and year groups
- Flexibility, choose the days that suit you
- A chance to build confidence before teacher training
- Consistent work in schools that value good cover staff
- A foot in the door for long-term or permanent roles
We keep things simple, supportive, and straight-talking:
- Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella faff
- Free access to our CPD Academy
- A friendly consultant who actually listens
- Local schools that match your style and preferences
- Easy booking system with clear communication
We always ask our Cover Supervisors about Thrive training.
If you've already got it, brilliant, schools love it.
If not, no stress, we offer FREE Thrive training to help you understand behaviour, build stronger relationships with students, and stand out in the classroom. It's one of those things that makes a real difference, both for you and the pupils you support.
If you're looking for a role that's flexible, rewarding, and gets you right into the heart of school life, this could be the one.
Apply now or drop us a message for a chat, we'll keep it simple and honest.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
