About the RoleNextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a resilient and compassionate Child Development Support Assistant to work on a supply basis in a welcoming primary school in the LS7 area of Leeds.

This role is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, particularly those who have experience in behaviour management and are confident working in dynamic classroom environments.

You will play a key role in helping pupils regulate emotions, engage with learning, and develop positive behaviours that support both academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies
- Support children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assist the class teacher in delivering structured and engaging lessons
- Help pupils develop emotional regulation and social skills
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage positive outcomes
- Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour

Requirements
- Experience working with children, ideally within a school or care setting
- Strong understanding of SEMH and behaviour management techniques
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to build rapport quickly with pupils and staff
- Flexible and adaptable to different classroom environments
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, psychology, or similar (desirable)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- The right to work in the UK
