Summary
An exciting opportunity to join the Care of the Elderly team at Weston General Hospital. The successful applicant will work with the Care of the Elderly team and be predominantly responsible for providing care for patients on Care of the Elderly wards, including opportunities to work on the Older Persons Assessment Unit, Kewstoke ward (acute medicine for the older person), Uphill ward (acute medicine for the older person ward and stroke rehabilitation) and Draycott ward (complex discharge). The successful candidate will also be supporting the Care of the Elderly clinics including movement disorders, TIA, Frailty SDEC and Rapid Access Care of the Older Person (RACOP).
The Care of the Elderly post is detailed below and could be available to start as early as May 2026, however we understand that a notice period may need to be given in a candidates current role. A shadow period will be provided for on-calls, and solo on-calls wouldn't begin until July / August 2026.
Core: The post holder will be responsible for the continuity of patient care for patients being treated on Care of the Elderly wards including opportunities to work on the Older Persons Assessment Unit, Kewstoke ward (acute medicine for the older person), Uphill ward (acute medicine for the older person ward and stroke rehabilitation) and Draycott ward (complex discharge). The successful candidate will also be supporting the Care of the Elderly clinics including movement disorders (including Parkinson's Disease), TIA, Frailty SDEC and Rapid Access Care of the Older Person (RACOP).
The general medical component of the position involves inclusion on a full shift rota with the Specialty Registrars. This is currently run over a 16-week period and includes long days, on-call, nights, twilights and weekend discharge shifts.
