Summary
Job Summary:
• The post-holder is responsible for undertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group of patients.
• Is expected to deliver care without direct supervision. Is accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care.
• Is expected to teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce.
• Is accountable for care or any omissions of care that he/she delegates to others.
• Is expected to act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Gray Ward is a 32-bed unit dedicated to the care of general surgery patients. Our specialities include Upper GI, Colorectal, Urology, Gynaecology, ENT, Maxillofacial, Orthopaedics, and Plastics.
• We pride ourselves on providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population requiring various surgical interventions.
• We are seeking experienced nurses to join our dynamic team at Gray Ward.
• The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality, direct patient care and treatment.
• This role is crucial in supporting patients through their surgical journey, from admission to recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care to individuals undergoing general surgical procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor patient progress and report any changes to the surgical team.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Assist in the preparation and aftercare of surgical patients.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
• Support patients and their families, providing education and emotional support as needed.
Requirements:
• Must be a qualified nurse with a valid NMC pin number.
• Desirable of 1 year of experience in a surgical ward or related field.
• Excellent clinical skills and the ability to manage a diverse caseload.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
