Summary

Key Responsibilities Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to the following: Clinical practice Participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children- including vaccinations for those travelling abroad. Provide wound care (ulcer /Doppler etc.) to patients. Taking patient samples, swabs, blood, specimens, and checking pulse, temperature and blood pressure. To support and advise women requesting information relating to family planning needs and those presenting for cervical cytology consultations. Giving advice, education and information about chronic health conditions and ailments, smoking cessation and losing weight. Documenting all patient contacts in the electronic patient record. Ensure all training is up to date. Physical Effort Prolonged periods of time spent in a sitting position at a computer screen in putting information and making telephone calls. The post holder is occasionally required to lift equipment several times throughout the week e.g., files, boxes, or stationery. Mental Effort Prioritising work is essential, as often many tasks are required to be undertaken simultaneously. The post holder is required to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Emotional Effort Potential for distressing situations when liaising with vulnerable groups and their families/carers. Working Conditions You would be required to work in several different environments across the Primary Care Network. Training and Development All roles within Pier Xtra have an element of statuary mandatory e-learning training which will be completed within the first two weeks of employment. Any extra training required for role developed will be provided as required.
