Summary

The post holder will be responsible for delivering a broad range of clinical interventions and supporting the wider clinical team in the provision of patient care. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Carrying out routine clinical observations such as blood pressure monitoring, ensuring accurate documentation and appropriate escalation of abnormal findings Performing electrocardiograms (ECGs) in accordance with clinical protocols Delivering NHS Health Checks, including risk assessment, lifestyle discussion, and appropriate signposting Measuring, recording, and interpreting physiological data including height, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), and other relevant lifestyle indicators Providing high standards of wound care management, including cleaning, dressing, and monitoring of wounds in line with infection control policies Undertaking urinalysis and the safe collection, handling, labelling, and dispatch of specimens Supporting the delivery and administration of immunisations in line with national schedules and practice protocols Assisting clinicians during minor surgery procedures and specialist clinics, such as pessary fittings, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times Carrying out phlebotomy efficiently and safely Acting as a chaperone for clinicians where appropriate, including during sensitive examinations such as cervical screening Maintaining strict adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) policies, ensuring a clean, safe, and compliant clinical environment Ensuring that all clinical rooms, equipment, and supplies meet Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and are prepared appropriately for use Administrative Duties In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role requires a high standard of administrative competence to support the smooth running of the practice. Responsibilities include: Accurately maintaining and updating patient records using the EMIS clinical system, ensuring all entries are timely, clear, and in line with data protection and confidentiality policies Supporting the delivery of clinical audits, data collection, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery Managing allocated clinical and administrative tasks, including patient recalls, follow-ups, and monitoring of long-term condition registers Providing patients with clear health education, advice, and guidance, as well as signposting them to appropriate internal and external services Actively participating in practice meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and ongoing training and development opportunities Completing all mandatory training and remaining up to date with current policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines
