Summary
Our client is a small specialist supplier of equipment used in harsh environments. The company seeks a new Mechanical Engineer to support hardware development. This is a
permanent position on-site in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Applicants will ideally be locally based or within 45 minutes commute. Engineering aptitude, high attention to detail and excellent written communication skills are essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
• Design product mechanical assemblies for applications that include machine vision, robotics and industrial wireless networks
• Support testing and documentation for product regulatory approvals and certifications
• Development of automated production test hardware
• Produce engineering documentation including assembly drawings, manufacturing instructions and test procedures
• Review product designs for manufacturability and failure modes
Qualifications and experience levels
• Ideally graduated with a 2.1 or higher in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
• At least three years of experience in a relevant design role
• Mechanical part design with SOLIDWORKS (or similar 3D CAD tool)
• DFM, DFA and FMEA techniques
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
Skills – Desirable
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
• Design for harsh environments with appropriate certifications (e.g., IECEx, ATEX, DNV-GL)
• Injection moulding and fabrication processes
• Tolerance stacking
• Production considerations for small, medium and large scale production
• Requirements capture and specifications
• Modelling (FEA, thermal)
• SOLIDWORKS PDM
