Summary
The Senior MDT Coordinator will provide formal line management and leadership to a team of MDT Coordinators, playing a key role in the delivery and performance of cancer services. This position holds responsibility for ensuring that all MDT meetings are meticulously prepared, efficiently conducted, and comprehensively followed up in line with national cancer standards, service-level agreements, and KPI's.A thorough understanding of the patient pathway—including diagnostic and staging investigations as well as available treatment options—is essential. The post holder will oversee MDT coordinators, ensuring the smooth operation and structural integrity of the department by training, mentoring, and developing the team to adapt to an evolving service environment. They will ensure that all critical information is accessible to support informed clinical decision-making, with decisions documented according to local protocols.
Collaborate with Service Managers to identify opportunities for service improvement, analyse potential solutions, and support implementation efforts, particularly those related to patient tracking and MDT processes.
Facilitating the accurate collection of cancer data and entering it into the relevant database. This includes conducting regular audits to identify any pathways requiring intervention, highlighting these to Service Managers, and pinpointing training and development needs within the team to enhance pathway performance and patient outcomes.
