Summary
Job Description:
Personal Care Assistant required for a young man with a high level Spinal Cord Injury.
The purpose of this role is to assist with all daily living tasks within the family home, where he lives independently with his partner and two young children.
The role will include, but is not limited to:
Personal care
Preparation of food and drinks
Assistance with eating and drinking
Some household cleaning tasks
Moving and handling including hoisting and regular basic physio exercises.
There are an average of 17 hours p/week available on a 3-week rolling rota.
The current rota in place consists of:
Week 1: Mon & Wed 8am-4pm
Week 2: Tues & Thurs 8am-4pm and Fri 8am-11am
Week 3 is Sat & Sun 8am-4pm
Additional hours may be required to cover staff annual leave/sickness.
Requirements:
Full UK Driving Licence with use of own car and willingness to drive the employer’s van when needed would be an advantage.
Must be able to reliably commute to Embleton, Cockermouth, either by own car or using the regular bus service.
The ideal candidate will be flexible and able to cover extra shifts across the 7 days support as needed and would also be willing to cover for annual leave and sickness.
Previous experience in supporting someone with health needs would be an advantage, however full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS and clearance which will be funded for by the employer.
