Job Description
As an HGV Class 2 Driver, you are responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of palletised goods to multiple drop locations daily. You operate a Class 2 heavy goods vehicle in compliance with all legal and company requirements, ensuring goods reach their destination in excellent condition.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Drive and operate a Class 2 heavy goods vehicle safely and in accordance with relevant road traffic laws and company policies.
• Complete up to 15 delivery drops per day, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of palletised goods.
• Use pump trucks and tail lifts competently to load and unload deliveries.
• Secure loads effectively using ratchet straps and other necessary equipment to prevent damage during transit.
• Maintain accurate completion of delivery paperwork, including electronic and manual records.
• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or issues promptly.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures at all times.
• Communicate professionally with customers during deliveries, providing a high standard of customer service.
• Work flexibly to meet operational requirements, including early starts and occasional overtime.
• Valid HGV Class 2 driving licence.
• Current Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card.
• Digital tachograph (Digi) card.
There are no formal educational requirements beyond those necessary to obtain the required driving licences and certifications.
Experience
• Minimum of 12 months’ experience driving a Class 2 heavy goods vehicle.
• Proven experience delivering palletised goods on multiple drop routes.
• Competent in the use of pump trucks and tail lifts for loading and unloading.
• Comfortable and skilled in securing loads using ratchet straps.
• Strong understanding of road safety and vehicle maintenance procedures.
• Good time management skills to complete all deliveries within scheduled hours.
• Ability to complete accurate delivery documentation and use digital systems where required.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude when interacting with customers.
• Experience working within a logistics, procurement, distribution, or supply chain environment.
• Knowledge of the West Midlands area and surrounding regions.
• Work is primarily conducted within a vehicle and involves physical activity such as loading and unloading pallets.
• Regular early starts and potential for overtime to meet delivery schedules.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions due to the nature of the job.
• Work environment is fast-paced and requires adherence to strict timeframes and health and safety standards.
