Summary

1. To organise kitchen and ancillary areas.
2. To organise and allocate work within these areas.
3. To supervise, control and prepare all meals and beverages as required, including special diets and any functions within the home.
4. To check meals issued for quality, quantity and appearance.
5. To ensure proper standards of cleanliness.
6. To prepare meals for Service Users with special dietary requirements to the precise instruction of the doctor, manger, nutritionist or other appropriate person.
7. To ensure the correct and economical use of food, materials and equipment including cleaning and ensure wastage is kept to a minimum.
8. To ensure all kitchen equipment and crockery, cutlery etc is kept clean and in good working order and to report faulty or damaged equipment.
9. To monitor the work of kitchen assistants and report to the home manager as appropriate.
10. To ensure proper standards of behaviour and appearance of any kitchen staff employed.
11. To ensure weekly orders of food or cleaning supplies as required
12. To assist Home Manager in the resolution of service users catering complaints.
13. To ensure provisions delivered are of the quality and quantity specified and delivery notes and invoices are passed to the administration office.
14. To maintain stocktaking records.
15. To record fridge/freezer temperatures.
16. To be familiar with the Nursing Homes Policies and Procedures.
17. To comply with health and safety, fire, and other statutory regulatory requirements.
18. To report any incident immediately to the Staff Nurse or Manager.
19. To attend staff meetings as required.
20. To represent the home in a positive manner.
21. To maintain confidentiality in relation to the personal and private affairs of the service users.
22. To maintain confidentiality in relation to the business/affairs of the Nursing Home.
23. To undertake any other relevant and reasonable duties within the requirement of the job role.
