Summary

Empower Young Lives: SEN Teaching Assistant

St Ives, Cambridge

The Mission

Do you believe that every student, regardless of their challenges, deserves a champion?

We are looking for a resilient and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist day school in St Ives. We aren't a "standard" classroom; we are a therapeutic environment dedicated to students aged 11-16 navigating SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), Autism, and complex communication needs.

This isn't just a job-it's an opportunity to be the turning point in a young person's educational journey.

The Details
  • Salary: £22,996 - £25,068 (Actual annual salary)

  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Term Time Only)

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week

  • Location: St Ives, Cambridge

Your Role on the Team

As a vital member of our multidisciplinary squad, you will bridge the gap between curriculum and connection. You will:

  • Foster Independence: Provide tailored support for students with ASD and high-anxiety profiles.

  • Think on Your Feet: Adapt lesson plans in real-time to meet the sensory and emotional needs of your students.

  • Champion Positive Behavior: Use person-centered, trauma-informed approaches to de-escalate and support.

  • Collaborate: Partner with teachers and therapists to create a classroom culture where every student feels safe to succeed.

The Perks (Beyond the Paycheck)

We invest in our people as much as our pupils. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Health & Peace of Mind: 24/7 household GP access, dental/optical cash plans, and life assurance.

  • Financial Wins: Enhanced pension, "Perkbox" lifestyle discounts, and a £1,000 Referral Bonus if you bring a friend on board!

  • Professional Evolution: Access to top-tier SEN training and continuous career development.

  • Lifestyle Perks: Cycle-to-work schemes and car lease options to make your commute easier.

Who You Are
  • Qualified: You hold relevant Teaching Assistant certifications.

  • Experienced: You have a background (or a deeply rooted interest) in SEMH and SEN support.

  • Grounded: You possess the patience and emotional intelligence required for a high-needs setting.

  • A Team Player: You thrive in a collaborative, supportive environment.
