Summary
Leeds Institute of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Medicine
Are you a statistician interested in joining a team which will ultimately impact the provision of future healthcare for critically ill children?
Established in 2001 and coordinated by the Universities of Leeds and Leicester, PICANet is an exciting project, collating details of the treatment of all critically ill children in NHS Paediatric Intensive Care Units in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Utilising an expanding clinical audit dataset (already in excess of 560,000 event records), the project facilitates the planning of future health service research and interventions.
Overview of the Role
We are seeking a Research Statistician to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Audit Network (PICANet). This role is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2027. You should have a degree in a numerate discipline and practical experience of advanced statistical techniques. You will be responsible for analysing existing data, developing analytical methods and, together with clinical and academic colleagues, providing collaborative support for use of the data in audit, applied health research and clinical trials. You will also provide support to NHS Trust staff as well as contribute to the production of and presentation of progress reports to sponsors and national bodies. Your effective communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in building rapport with colleagues at the University of Leicester as well as NHS Trust staff, providing support and guidance to ensure accurate reporting into the database.
While the post is based on the University of Leeds campus, travel to meetings or to visit other organisations, in particular NHS Trusts, will be required on occasion.
You will report to Prof Richard Feltbower, Professor in Epidemiology.
What we offer in return
26 days holiday plus approx. 16 Bank Holidays/days that the University is closed by custom (including Christmas) – That’s over 42 days a year!
Generous pension scheme plus life assurance.
Health and Wellbeing: Discounted staff membership options at The Edge, our state-of-the-art Campus gym, with a pool, sauna, climbing wall, cycle circuit, and sports halls.
Personal Development:
Access to courses run by our Organisational Development & Professional Learning team.
All FMH staff are entitled to ten days staff development per year (pro rata). Please speak to your Line Manager about how you can utilise these.
Access to on-site childcare, shopping discounts and travel schemes are also available
