Are you a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role within a supportive primary school setting?
We are working with a welcoming primary school in Salford who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with autism. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity where you will play a key role in helping a young learner access education in a way that suits their individual needs.
The Role:
- Providing 1:1 support for a child within a Year 1 class, working at a Reception level
- Supporting the child both in the classroom and within sensory rooms and breakout spaces
- Helping the child regulate emotions and engagement when the mainstream environment becomes overwhelming
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow EHCP targets
- Encouraging communication, social interaction, and independence
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience supporting children with autism (ASD)
- Confident working on a 1:1 basis with pupils who may struggle in a mainstream classroom
- Strong understanding of sensory needs and regulation strategies
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
