Summary

Penarth | £93 per day | Full-Time | Start after Easter / September

This isn't an easy role - but it's one that matters.

We're working with a secondary school in The Vale of Glamorgan with a specialist base for pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs. The pupils you'll be supporting don't always respond to traditional classroom environments. Some will test boundaries. Some will disengage. Some will push you away before they trust you.

Your job is to show up anyway - consistently, calmly and without taking it personally.

This is an ideal role for someone considering a career in education and looking for a genuine stepping stone into a PGCE - not just observation, but real experience.
- Supporting pupils who struggle with behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation
- Working 1:1 and in small groups within a specialist base
- Helping pupils re-enter lessons and stay in class
- Managing challenging behaviour in a calm and controlled way
- Building trust over time - not instantly

You won't "win them over" in a day.
But if you stick with it, you'll see progress that actually means something.
- Calm under pressure - even when challenged
- Consistent - you don't change your approach day to day
- Resilient - you don't take behaviour personally
- Direct, but fair
- Able to build respect, not demand it

You don't need school experience - but you do need the right mindset.

You must also be confident communicating in clear spoken and written English, as you'll be working closely with staff and supporting pupils throughout the day.

This is a school that doesn't give up on pupils.

The specialist base is well-established, with experienced staff who understand behaviour and support each other. There are clear systems, strong routines and a leadership team that backs its staff.

You won't be left to figure things out on your own - but you will be expected to step up and be part of the team.
- Graduates considering teaching or a PGCE
- People with experience in care, youth work or coaching
- Individuals who have worked with challenging behaviour in any setting
- People who want a role with purpose, not just something easy
- £93 per day
- Full-time, term-time hours (8:30am - 3:30pm)
- Ongoing support and guidance
- Experience that genuinely prepares you for teacher training

We work with schools where staff are valued and supported - placing people into roles where they can stay, develop and make a difference.

The school is meeting candidates over the next two weeks with a view to starting after Easter, with further roles available for September.
