Job Description:
As a Bar Steward member at Sodexo, located in Worthy Down Barracks, Winchester, you'll play a key role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for our customers, particularly the armed forces personnel we serve. This role is all about making genuine connections and delivering excellent service to those who rely on us to enhance their daily experience. If you’re a friendly, approachable individual with great communication skills, you’ll thrive in this customer-facing role!
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver professional bar service, including serving wines, spirits, beers, and other beverages with accurate measures
- Maintain excellent customer and client relationships, ensuring a positive experience
- Support retail services across the site, including customer service, cash handling, and merchandising
- Ensure compliance with liquor licensing laws and company quality procedures
- Take responsibility for stock, cash, and chits during shifts, ensuring accurate control at all times
- Complete end-of-shift reconciliation, reporting any discrepancies to management
- Assist with stock checks, deliveries, and order monitoring procedures
- Carry out cellar duties such as changing barrels, cleaning pipes, and restocking
- Support functions and events, including formal service and temporary bar setups
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment in line with COSHH and health & safety guidelines
- Clear and clean bar areas promptly, including glassware and tables
- Report accidents, near misses, faulty equipment, or stock issues immediately
- Attend team meetings, briefings, and performance reviews
- Follow cleaning schedules and maintain hygiene and uniform standards
- Carry out any additional reasonable duties as directed by management
What You Bring:
Essential:
- Good numerical and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong customer service skills
- Basic knowledge of health & safety and food safety practices
- Must be 18 or older due to licensing regulations.
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar role within the hospitality or service industry
- Experience working in a military environment
