Summary
Clinical Duties Perform FibroScan assessments independently for patients referred from multidisciplinary teams and Hepatology services, following Trust protocols and national guidelines. Deliver Fibroscans in outpatient areas, with potential to work at both sites St Thomas and Guys Hospitals sites Prepare patients for procedures, clearly explaining the process, obtaining verbal consent, and demonstrating excellent communication skills. Ensure all equipment is prepared, maintained, and used safely in line with manufacturer guidelines and Trust policies, including arranging servicing and calibration. Maintain high standards of infection prevention, patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality at all times. Complete accurate and timely documentation, including inputting data into EPIC Communicate FibroScan results to referring clinician. Operational Duties Manage and prioritise own workload effectively to meet service demands and performance targets. Support delivery of the FibroScan service within available resources, maintaining quality standards. Participate in service development and implementation of new initiatives to improve patient care. Identify and report risks, incidents, and safeguarding concerns in line with Trust policies. Maintain effective communication across primary, secondary, and tertiary care services. Education & Training Participate in training to develop knowledge of liver disease, elastography, and FibroScan limitations. Contribute to patient education and health promotion, including raising awareness of liver disease. Engage in ongoing professional development, mandatory training, and appraisal processes. Audit, Research & Governance Duties Support data collection, audit, and quality improvement projects within the FibroScan service. Maintain accurate records to support service evaluation and reporting. Demonstrate awareness of best practice in FibroScan and hepatology care. Work within scope of competence, adhering to Trust policies and professional standards at all times.
