Summary
Working within the General Ledger team, responsible for managing a designated portfolio of balance sheet accounts and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in line with strict deadlines. The role supports key areas of the business including Best Food Logistics, Booker Retail Partners, Booker Insurance, Marketing and IS, requiring strong attention to detail, accountability and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Manage and maintain your own set of Balance sheet accounts and ensure they are fully reconciled and accurate
- Prepare and manage periodic accruals/prepayments in line with reporting schedules
- Identify and escalate any accounting issues within reconciliations, seeking effective resolutions
- Ensure trackers are accurately maintained and up to date
- Produce periodic financial reports, maintained and up to date
- Collaborating with other departments to investigate variances and support accurate budgeting
- Respond to queries related to your accounts and provide clear, timely information
- Supporting the wider GL team with additional adhoc tasks/journal posting when required
- Follow the Business Code of Conduct, always acting with integrity and diligence
- SAP experience is essential
- AAT qualified or studying towards
- Excellent Excel skills
- Analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks & deadlines
- Experience preparing or assisting with accruals/prepayments and financial reporting
- A basic understanding of accounting principles and experience working within a finance or general ledger team
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
