A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experience Healthcare Assistant to work within the urology/oncology services with the specialist nursing team and multidisciplinary team at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The team aspire to provide exceptional care for the population it service. They will be able to give patient specific holistic care and health promotion and support and assist in our nurse-led clinics and procedures. In addition, they will be an integral part to assist and support the multi-disciplinary team and urology lead within service development and governance to ensure the department obtain and maintain high national and peer review standards. By collaborative working, they will ensure the provision of high-quality care, and maintaining standards of clinical excellence, improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families, and carers within the Urology-Oncology service.
We are embarking on expanding our urology services within our new Urology Investigation Units which will allow us to offer many training and development opportunities for our staff to develop both clinical & managerial skills and encourage career progression. We also endeavour to provide our staff with clinical supervision and reflective practice. A forward thinking & supportive Management Team, Nurse Practitioners, Advance Clinical Practitioners (ACP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Palliative Care Team & Macmillan Information and Support Centre support this developing service. We firmly believe in patients wellbeing, supporting a holistic care approach, Clinical psychology and Citizen Advice Bureau having clinics in the unit. We also offer carers and patient support groups

This role will allow engagement with patients, carers and their families and develop advance communication skills and reasoning skills.
Within this role you will be able to develop clinical and surgical skills by assisting with procedures and clinical activities within the unit.
Within this role work closely with the multidisciplinary teams internal and externally as well as liaising with different stakeholders to ensure smooth running of patient’s pathway and improve patient experience, wellbeing, and safety.
Within this role you will gain more in-depth knowledge of urological conditions, side effects, management etc and this will assist you with health promotion activities and the ability to assist in providing patient information to patients, carer and their family as instructed by CNS/ACP and assist in supporting patients through their pathways.
You will assist in supporting patients emotionally and psychologically and assist in undertaking non-complex Health Needs Assessments (HNA) and signposting patients to relevant agencies.
