Summary
Main Duties of the Job The role is varied and will include duties across the following areas. Training will be provided for any areas the successful candidate is not already familiar with. Reception and Patient-Facing Answer incoming telephone calls, dealing with enquiries and directing calls to the appropriate team member Greet and assist patients at the front desk in a courteous, efficient and professional manner Support the practice total triage system - process patient requests and navigate them to the appropriate clinician or service Book, amend and cancel appointments using EMIS Web Register new patients and manage patient registration processes Encourage and support patients to use online services for appointments, prescriptions and access to records Document Processing and Workflow Process incoming clinical correspondence and documents using the practice workflow system Code and file documents accurately to patient records on EMIS Web Action tasks generated from clinical correspondence in a timely manner Scan, attach and process paper documents to electronic patient records Process and manage patient test results as directed by clinicians Referrals and Clinical Support Process referrals using the Electronic Referral Service (eRS) per practice protocol Support clinicians with referral queries and appointment slot issues Process repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines Support the clinical team with ad hoc administrative tasks as required Quality and Compliance Support QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) and LES/DES work, including call and recall of patients for reviews and health checks Support clinical audit and quality improvement activities Contribute to CQC (Care Quality Commission) compliance by following practice policies and procedures Participate in training sessions, team meetings and practice development activities General Administration Process incoming and outgoing mail (postal and electronic) Maintain a clean, tidy and well-organised reception and working area Order and monitor stationery and office supplies as directed Support practice managers with administrative tasks as needed Cover duties for colleagues during periods of absence Participate in teaching and training of students and new staff where appropriate
