Join NICE as a Health Technology Assessment Adviser and play a central role in shaping evidence-based recommendations that directly impact patient care across the NHS.

We are seeking an experienced HTA professional to ensure the robustness and methodological quality of our technology appraisals. This includes reviewing complex clinical and economic evidence and identifying key issues that support transparent, evidence‑based decision‑making. You will contribute to the development and improvement of NICE’s appraisal methodologies and ensure alignment with international best practice.

You will work closely with academic and clinical experts, industry stakeholders and the Appraisal Committee to communicate complex evidence clearly and effectively. The role also involves managing and developing Health Technology Analysts, supporting their performance and professional growth to maintain high‑quality work across the programme.

This role can be based in either our London (E20 1JQ) or Manchester (M1 3BN) office.

The Health Technology Assessment Adviser ensures the technical quality, rigour and consistency of NICE’s technology appraisal outputs. The role provides senior methodological leadership across the Appraisals Programme, overseeing complex evidence reviews, leading methodological development, managing Health Technology Analysts, and acting as Technical Lead on selected appraisals. The post holder also contributes to appeal processes, provides specialist advice to technology developers, and supports high quality analytical and methodological practice across NICE.

In this role, the post holder will:
• Review and quality assure complex clinical, economic and epidemiological evidence, assessing completeness, identifying risks, and highlighting key issues for Committee consideration.
• Act as Technical Lead for selected appraisals and contribute to NICE’s response during appeal hearings.
• Liaise with academic groups, clinical experts, manufacturers and other stakeholders to support clear communication of complex technical issues.
• Line manage and mentor Health Technology Analysts, supporting their training, performance and professional development.

• Support the development and maintenance of methodological best practice within NICE, including defining and ensuring quality standards and processes.
• Provide leadership on technical and methodological issues across the Appraisals Programme, ensuring NICE methodologies are applied and remain up to date.
