Summary
Trainee Residential Fire Suppression Engineer (Kitchensafe) London
Marlowe Kitchen Fire Suppression is a leading provider of kitchen fire suppression systems. We specialize in the design, installation, and maintenance of systems for various establishments including hotels, restaurants, schools, hospitals, and fast-food outlets.
About the Role:
As a Trainee Kitchensafe Engineer, you will be trained to install, maintain, and service Kitchensafe fire safety systems for our clients across the UK. This is an entry-level opportunity with full training provided, ideal for someone looking to start a long-term career in fire safety engineering.
You will work alongside experienced engineers and gradually build the skills and confidence needed to carry out work independently.
Key Responsibilities;
-Assist with the installation, servicing, and maintenance of Kitchensafe systems under supervision
-Learn how to carry out basic fault finding and diagnostics, with full training and support
-Support engineers during site visits and installations
-Participate in a 1-in-4 call-out rota, ensuring prompt and reliable service
-Communicate professionally with on-site teams, concierges, and building management
-Accurately record work completed using a PDA system (training provided)
-Travel to sites across the UK with support and planning from the team
-Be flexible to stay away from home occasionally, with accommodation and expenses covered
Who we're looking for
In addition to the core qualities expected of a professional field-based engineer — including reliability, professionalism, and a positive attitude — the successful candidate will demonstrate:
-Background in a maintenance, facilities, construction, electrical, mechanical, or engineering environment, with experience using tools and attending site visits
-Comfortable working in live environments and following site rules, permits, and safety procedures
-Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems is advantageous but not essential — full training will be provided
-Demonstrates strong attention to detail when assisting with installations, servicing, and inspections
-Takes pride in completing work to a high standard and following procedures correctly
-Brings a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn a new technical skillset
-Works in a structured and methodical manner, able to follow instructions and technical guidance
-Capable of managing workload effectively, including travelling between sites and meeting scheduled deadlines
-Confident and professional when dealing with customers, concierge teams, and site management
-Able to work both independently (once trained) and as part of a supportive engineering team
-Uses initiative and common sense when solving problems or escalating issues appropriately
-Remains calm, professional, and safety-focused in pressurised or unfamiliar environments
-Communicates clearly and professionally with engineers, supervisors, and customers
