Summary
The CMR service in Leeds is a unique symbiotic relationship under the combined guidance and leadership of two high profile institutions; the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) and the University of Leeds (UoL) that serves the advancement of CMR and the understanding of cardiac health & disease processes and NHS CMR service delivery to a catchment population of 2.3m. The service is delivered through 3 dedicated CMR scanners (Philips and Siemens) across two modern facilities within the Leeds General Infirmary; the Cardiac MRI Unit (CMRU) and the primarily research focussed Advanced Imaging Centre (AIC). The combined service is responsible for over 3,500 NHS examinations annually and approximately 1,000 local, national and international research scans conducted through studies generated and led both in-house and through diverse external partnerships and collaborations. NHS service and university research are delivered in close partnership between LTHT and UoL and all staff in the CMR team contribute to both aspects of the service. The post holder will be a state registered Radiographer with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) and will both clinical leadership for the NHS service and support the universitys research programme in CMR. As a cardiac MRI Radiographer Lead, the post holder may be required to practice their imaging skills in either service location to provide and maintain the high-quality patient/research participant focussed imaging service. Concurrently, the post holder will be responsible for progressively managing the expectations and objectives of the LTHT and UoL to achieve their common goals such as future service and research development planning and implementation and, where they may differ on an operational or directional level, innovate concomitant conciliated working solutions.
