Summary
You’ll play a vital role in helping young people transition from care into adulthood, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and empowered. From initial arrival and assessments through to navigating the asylum process and planning for independence, you’ll act as a trusted point of contact and advocate, helping care leavers access essential services, overcome challenges, and thrive in their new lives.
What you’ll do:
• Provide consistent, culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support to refugee and asylum-seeking care leavers.
• Work in partnership to assess needs and create personalised Pathway Plans that reflect their goals, strengths, and vulnerabilities.
• Support access to legal advice, health services, education, training, and employment opportunities.
• Assist with securing safe accommodation and understanding financial entitlements.
• Collaborate with carers, families, and partner agencies to identify needs and contribute to service development.
• Travel across the country as required to meet care leavers in person, ensuring continuity of support and building strong, trusting relationships.
What we’re looking for:
• Experience working directly with young people and/or young adults in a supportive or advisory capacity.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including negotiation and mediation.
• Ability to assess risks and needs, analyse information, and work independently.
• Proficient IT skills and ability to produce clear, structured written reports.
• Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practice.
Why join us?
• Be part of a supportive, collaborative team where your contributions truly matter.
• Receive a thorough induction to help you feel confident and prepared in your role.
• Enjoy flexible working options, including a 9-day fortnight and hybrid arrangements to support work-life balance.
• Access to Health Assured's comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including 24/7 telephone support, a suite of online resources, and legal and financial advice.
• Competitive benefits package, including generous annual leave, occupational sick pay, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
