The Opportunity
Barnsley College is seeking a dedicated Engineering Technician to join our dynamic Engineering department. This hands on role is key to helping us deliver exceptional practical learning experiences for our students.
As an Engineering Technician, you will play a vital part in maintaining safe, well-organised workshops, ensuring tools, equipment and materials are ready for teaching sessions. You’ll work closely with our teaching teams to support the preparation and delivery of practical activities, creating an inspiring, safe and supportive environment where learners can thrive.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in engineering, automotive, electrical or related industries who enjoys working practically and wants to support the next generation of engineers.
About You
You will be confident working with tools, equipment and workshop machinery, and able to help maintain a clean, safe and efficient workspace. You’ll be well organised, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple tasks such as equipment checks, maintaining stores, preparing materials and supporting practical teaching.
You’ll be a good communicator who can interact professionally with students and staff and you’ll bring a flexible, team focused approach to your work.

Required
• Relevant Level 2 qualification in an automotive, electrical or engineering discipline
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification, or willing to work towards)
• Relevant industry experience working within the automotive, electrical or engineering sector
