The post holder will join a passionate, forward-thinking team of IBD nurses. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and ready to support the delivery of high-quality safe standards to all our IBD patients. Once appointed you will be supported by the existing team of nurses and clinical lead for IBD. You will work through competencies which will guide your development to allow you to be fully involved in the care of our patients with this lifelong condition. The competencies are guided by the UK IBD Core Standards and the GIRFT standards for IBD. Most importantly we are looking for an enthusiastic team player who is committed to learning and developing within our existing IBD services.

The post holder will work towards a caseload for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service. They will become a source of expertise and knowledge for both patients and healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will work closely with the IBD service lead and Consultant Gastroenterologist providing a collaborative approach to the care and management of patients with IBD.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

· Work within agreed Developmental pathways and implement evidence-based care guided by policies, procedures and national guidelines within own speciality

· Identify and manage potential clinical risk

· Escalate potential clinical risk appropriately.

· Document and submit incidents as appropriate and work with excellence, compliments and complaints to proactively develop services.

· Assess, implement and evaluate patient care, working in agreed guidelines, managing risk and patient satisfaction.

· Manage the admission and discharge of own caseload through discussion and agreement with MDT

· Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met.

· Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers/relatives e.g. provide highly complex, sensitive information acknowledging barriers to understanding

· Develop and improve on teaching skills to enable staff and patient education.

· Maintain and continually develop own competence, expert knowledge and skills within your speciality

· To act as a nursing role model and comply with NMC guidelines

· Prioritise work to meet clinical, and organisational objectives.

· Exercise professional leadership to support and inspire colleagues
• Act as a nursing role model and comply with NMC guidelines.
• Actively promote the professional nursing role within the multi-disciplinary team
• Communicate with all staff, patients, visitors and team in a professional manner always

· You will be expected to work within the trust behavioural values and contribute to the team ethos of the Eco Garden within the speciality of Gastroenterology.

· Liaise with Clinical lead, Matron, ADDON and all senior colleagues effectively as needed.

· Identify personnel requirements for development and communicate these through appraisal and job planning.

· Participate in recruitment and teaching of staff within the speciality

· Promote team working within the service and across organisational boundaries where appropriate
