Summary

In addition to job overview and main duties Identify need for, participate and undertake, research, clinical audit, benchmarking and equipment trials, in order to improve effectiveness of patient care. Disseminate research and audit findings through presentation to professional groups and publication. Responsible for the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to own area of work. Promote patient and public involvement activities in the specialist area, leading to service improvement. Promote peoples equality, diversity and rights. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others. Disseminate good practice and knowledge by pursuing opportunities to present work at national conferences or via publication, encourage team members likewise. Identify clinical issues and incidents within the Trust that reduce the quality of care within the specialist service brining any issues to the attention of the Line manager and appropriate governance structure. Take part in activities to counter these to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care. Evaluate service delivery against Key Performance Indicators, locally, regionally and nationally within the Acute Oncology Service. Identify learning needs, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of education to meet identified need. Participate in the education of pre and post registered nurses, medical staff, AHPs, patient and carers and participate in curriculum development where appropriate. Ensure own compliance and compliance of others with regard to mandatory training and NMC regulations and requirements
