Summary
Clinical Responsibilities Pre-Operative To carry out a variety of clinics and outpatient activities unsupervised, in the context of the pre-operative assessment, listing patients for surgical procedures, planning pre- and postoperative investigations relevant to the surgical patient. To assist in ensuring complex pathways for sarcoma patients are established and executed to reduce delays in patient care and supporting/working with appropriate CNS teams to carry these out effectively. To assist in the pre-operative and enhanced recovery education of patients undergoing sarcoma surgery where appropriate. Peri-Operative: To undertake agreed surgical procedures, male and female catheterisation and correct positioning of the patient appropriate to the surgery to be undertaken To undertake skin preparation and draping; skin incision and suturing, dressings application unsupervised Post-Operative: To participate in the post-operative assessments of the patient with particular attention to wound assessment and the prevention of infection in surgical wound Professional Leadership: 1. As part of the Sarcoma Surgical team, be accountable for the provision of expert SCP advice and input into operational and strategic issues including the development and implementation of strategy and policy which ensures that corporate and clinical group objectives are achieved within agreed timescales. .
