Duration: Ongoing / Short-term / Long-term (flexible)
Role Summary
The Locum Specialty Doctor will provide high quality clinical care within the assigned specialty, supporting consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team. The postholder will participate in ward work, clinics, emergency cover, and departmental activities as required by the NHS Trust.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver safe, effective clinical care to inpatients and outpatients
• Participate in ward rounds, MDT meetings, and specialty clinics
• Provide emergency and on call cover (if included in rota)
• Support junior doctors and contribute to teaching where appropriate
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with GMC and NHS Trust standards
• Work collaboratively with nursing, AHPs, and senior medical staff
• Contribute to audits, quality improvement, and service development
• Ensure compliance with Trust policies, safeguarding, infection control, and governance requirements
Essential Requirements
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Right to work in the UK
• Minimum 4 years post graduate experience (including relevant specialty experience)
• Up to date mandatory training
• Enhanced DBS
• ALS/ACLS (depending on specialty)
