Summary

Summary
This role is all about using your practical skills and attention to detail to look after a place that people love. We're looking for a Facilities Assistant at Marine Drive to help keep the whole place in good condition and running smoothly for all the people who visit.

Salary: £12.75 per hour

Contract: 4 month Fixed term contract

Hours/ working pattern: Seasonal, flexible, weekends. This is a zero-hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays but does not require evening or split shifts.  

Typical shifts are to work Tuesday to Saturday (inclusive)

You would be joining an ambitious team who are working to create a more resilient and dynamic landscape in the face of the nature and climate emergency. The Woolacombe team cover 12 miles of stunning North Devon coastline, around 2000 acres of dramatic headlands, sandy beaches, sand dunes, grasslands, wetlands, and more.

Marine Drive is a key attraction for locals and visitors to the area, and future plans will include ensuring there is improved access for people as well as improvements for wildlife. The car park runs parallel to Woolacombe beach, which is recognised as one of the best beaches in the UK, and is surrounded by land cared for by the National Trust. The sand dunes immediately below Marine Drive are a significant coastal nature conservation sites in North Devon, and are home to scarce plants like orchids, reptiles such as the Adder and Common Lizard, and birds including Stonechat and Linnet. Funds generated at Marine Drive help to care and maintain the car park as well as support conservation work in the surrounding coast and countryside.

What you'll be doing
You’ll help with the day-to-day presentation of the National Trust’s buildings and outdoor spaces, based around Marine Drive. You’ll be turning your hand to all sorts maintenance and presentation tasks, making sure that all our facilities are kept in good working order. You'll also be asked to help with some manual work such as unloading deliveries. General maintenance of the areas surrounding the car park will form a core part of this role, you will be helping the team repair signage, steps, and gates, maintain footpaths and seating areas, as well as odd repairs within the car park itself. Duties such as cleaning, sweeping and litter-picking outdoors also form a large part of this role. You’ll be aiming for the highest standards of customer service everywhere you look after, and this includes speaking to people as they visit and helping them with any queries.
