Summary
The position is for a confident Level 2 or 3 apprentice who is looking to progress their career in the stud industry and develop their knowledge and understanding of running a stud of race horses.
The role involves leading and handling foals, youngstock, broodmares and stallions. It will require supporting vet and farrier visits, and also general yard duties, including but not limited to: turning out, bringing in, rug changes, grooming, tacking up, lunging and stable and field maintenance.
You will be fully supported in your apprenticeship from a knowledgeable and experience team, but prior experience and confidence is essential for this role due to the type of horses they work with.
Working hours are on a 5 day working week with every other weekend off.
Hours 7am - 4pm.
There is no public transport to this location, so you must consider your own transport for the length of this apprenticeship before applying.
Training
All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.
Qualifications required
A GCSE or equivalent pass in English and maths is beneficial but not essential. If you do not have passes, we will support you in achieving your Functional Skills English and maths qualifications alongside your apprenticeship.
Skills required
Previous experience of handling strong horses is essential
Confidence around horses is essential
Previous work around studs is desirable but not essential
Prospects
Progression to the Level 3 Senior Groom apprenticeship/possibility of full time employment for the right candidate.

Duration 12-15 Months
