Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced chemotherapy nurse to join the chemotherapy suite within the Primrose Unit.

The post holder will be responsible for administering and delivering care to patients receiving systemic anti‑cancer treatments, while upholding the highest standards of specialist cancer and palliative care within the Macmillan Primrose Unit at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust.

The role also includes supervising and supporting junior staff, students, and healthcare assistants, working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team.





You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, along with full training and competence in administering chemotherapy and related treatments.

You will provide specialist nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating a high standard of clinical practice when assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.

You will act as a professional role model, offering supportive, effective clinical leadership to colleagues.

• Ensure all care is delivered in accordance with Trust and unit/ward policies.
• Participate in induction and preceptorship programmes as required, following appropriate training.
• Maintain safe custody, administration and documentation of medicines in line with Trust policy, cytotoxic medication guidelines, and NMC standards.
• Follow unit protocols for managing cytotoxic drug extravasation and anaphylaxis when required.
• Inform the Unit/Ward Manager of any issues that may impact the professional standard of patient care.
• Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times
