Summary
This is an exciting new post of CAMHS Specialty Doctor for the Neurodevelopmental pathway where 10 sessions are available. The post is initially for 6 months, with the potential to extend further. There has been a recent investment to expand the team to provide a service to young people up until the age of 18. The post was developed to help support the neurodevelopmental pathway, secondary to an increase in referrals of patients with neurodevelopmental conditions primarily ADHD and ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition). These multidisciplinary pathways for the assessment, diagnosis and management of children and young people with ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Conditions, are supported in conjunction with nursing and psychology colleagues. The pathway involves obtaining written information / screening questionnaires from parents and school. A decision is then made with regards to the need to carry out further direct assessment by a neurodevelopmental team practitioner. The case is then discussed with a consultant to consider whether a diagnosis is likely. After this point the CAMHS Speciality Doctor will contribute to the diagnostic assessment & treatment / management. The Speciality Doctor will also support Autism assessments and management of associated difficulties, for example sleep difficulties, anxiety, school difficulties and challenging behaviours etc. The successful candidate will join an experienced community multidisciplinary Specialist CAMHS team. They will join three CAMHS Consultant colleague and other junior doctors working from Bury community CAMHS. The postholder will join a dynamic and supportive CAMHS Medical workforce working across the Trust footprint in Bury, Bury, Tameside, Rochdale and Stockport. The post is very suitable for an experienced CAMHS Specialty Doctor or CT2. The expected caseload would be around 50 to 60 open cases and a proportion of the cases will have an allocated case worker attached. The postholder will also be encouraged to participate in Trust workstreams for further development of CAMHS services in collaboration with their Consultant supervisor and the CAMHS Clinical Director.
