Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a creative, organised and enthusiasticArt & Design Technology (Textiles) Technician to join our vibrant and successful school community.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of an engaging and innovative curriculum across Art, Design Technology and Textiles, helping to inspire students and foster creativity.

You will play a key role in preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and supporting practical learning experiences for students across all key stages, including A Level.

Key Responsibilities

As a valued member of our team, you will:

• Prepare and assemble equipment, materials and resources for lessons, assessments and examinations
• Support teachers and students during practical lessons, demonstrating techniques and safe use of equipment
• Set up, clear away, clean and maintain equipment and learning spaces
• Assist in planning and organising practical requirements in collaboration with teaching staff
• Maintain accurate records, inventories and health & safety documentation
• Manage stock, including ordering, receiving and checking deliveries
• Ensure all workspaces and equipment meet health and safety standards, carrying out routine checks and maintenance
• Promote safe working practices and advise staff and students accordingly
• Support extra-curricular activities such as clubs, exhibitions and open evenings
• Provide additional support to A Level students with coursework and practical projects
• Contribute to the development and organisation of departmental resources and facilities

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a passion for Art, Design and Textiles
• Is highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks
• Has good practical skills and confidence using equipment and materials (textiles experience desirable)
• Has a strong understanding of health and safety in a workshop or studio environment
• Works well both independently and as part of a team
• Communicates effectively with staff and students
• Is committed to supporting young people and enhancing their learning experience
