Launch Your Career in Educational Psychology: Founding TA Role

Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to bridge the gap between theory and clinical practice? Do you want to apply your understanding of neurodiversity and human behaviour in a setting where you can see the immediate impact of your work?

A brand-new, specialist secondary school in Chaldon, Surrey, opened last September. We are looking for an intervention-focused Teaching Assistant who understands that "behaviour is communication." This is a unique opportunity to join a founding team and help shape the therapeutic environment for young people aged 11-16 with Autism, sensory processing needs, and emotional regulation challenges.

Why This Role is Perfect for a Psychology Graduate

This isn't just a classroom support role; it is a practical immersion into Educational and Clinical Psychology principles.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside a supernumerary intervention team, including therapists and specialists, to deliver a holistic curriculum.

  • Practical Application: Apply your knowledge of social communication and emotional regulation strategies in a real-world, high-impact setting.

  • Career Progression: Gain the high-level SEND experience required for Doctorate applications or specialised therapeutic roles.

  • Financial Rewards: £24,139 - £25,819 (Actual Salary) plus a £1,000 Welcome Bonus.

The Opportunity

You will play a pivotal role in supporting students who require a bespoke approach to learning. Your academic background will allow you to:

  • Analyse & Adapt: Provide meaningful feedback on student behaviour and attitudes, helping to refine individual learning plans.

  • Implement Strategy: Use positive behaviour management and tailored interventions to help students navigate sensory and emotional escalations.

  • Foster Independence: Empower students to build self-regulation skills and personal autonomy.

  • Safe Environment: Ensure the highest standards of safeguarding and mental wellbeing for every pupil.
