Summary
You will have a background in visual, biomedical or neurosciences to a postgraduate level. You must be registered with the HCPC and have experience working within ophthalmology or neurosciences. You will need a broad knowledge of ophthalmic, neurological and genetic conditions and a demonstrable experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment. Experience in working with patients of all ages and abilities, including babies and patients with additional needs, is essential. The job primarily involves supporting the consultant clinical scientist in running the Electrodiagnostic (EDT) service by recording, interpreting and preparing diagnostic reports. After gaining experience, you will be running EDT clinics independently, firstly adult clinics and then eventually paediatric clinics. There is the opportunity to develop and conduct research projects and to participate in audit and service development programmes. You will also supervise the Band 3 EDT assistants and be involved in their training. Being a specialist centre, the EDT department has numerous visiting doctors, scientists and healthcare practitioners and you will be involved in their training and education.
