Summary

Title: Building Surveyor Repairs and Maintenance

Contract Type: Permanent, Full time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £48,700 per annum to £56,000 per annum (London weighted salary) dependant on experience plus Essential Car User allowance of £1,300 per annum*

Grade: 9

Working Location: West London, Slough and Berkshire

Persona: Agile worker 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/site

Join our Surveying Team at L&Q:

Our Maintenance Services team are looking for an experienced surveyor to join the surveying team in the West region covering Willesden, Wembley, Ealing, Uxbridge, Slough and surrounding.



You will carry out internal and external inspections on occupied properties, providing technical advice and managing complex repair and maintenance projects. This includes liaising with residents, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality work, value for money, and strong customer satisfaction.



Your impact in the role:

Inspect and diagnose complex repairs, including damp and mould.
Complete surveys, produce condition reports, and specify appropriate remedial works.
Prepare accurate work specifications, costs, and recommendations.
Handle resident complaints, Councillor and MP enquiries, and oversee site visits through to resolution.
Produce clear reports, work orders, and specifications using NHF SORs and other tools.
Manage budgets and support the variation approval process.
Liaise with loss adjusters and oversee insurance-related works (fire, flood, theft).
Ensure strong health and safety compliance at all times.
Influence stakeholders and manage contractor performance effectively.


What you'll bring:

Extensive repairs surveying experience within Housing Associations or Local Authorities
HNC/HND or similar qualification preferred (or extensive experience with commitment to CPD)
Strong understanding of construction methods, housing law and contract law
Experience working with varied housing stock, ideally in Social Housing
Good knowledge of Health and Safety
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to undertake complex property inspections and produce itemised work specifications
Confident in managing budgets and preparing technical documentation
Knowledge and experience using NHF schedules of rates
