We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and resilient Emotional Support Teaching Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Middleton. This full-time role is ideal for someone who is confident supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
The Role:
You will work closely with pupils who may present challenging behaviour, providing consistent emotional and academic support. The focus of the role is to help students regulate their emotions, build trust, and re-engage with their learning in a structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Providing emotional support and promoting positive coping strategies
- Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour
- Assisting teaching staff with classroom activities
- Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with behavioural or emotional needs
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviour effectively
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
