Summary

A Unique Opportunity for a Head Chef Seeking Balance and Structure

An experienced Head Chef — or a strong Senior Sous Chef ready to step up — is sought for a luxury, family-run weddings and events venue set within stunning Cornish countryside.

This role offers a refreshing alternative to traditional restaurant kitchens.

There are no walk-ins, no split shifts, and no unpredictable services. Instead, the successful candidate will join a highly organised, events-led operation where bookings are secured months — often years — in advance.

What Sets This Role Apart

✔ Events-only kitchen with no day-to-day unpredictability
✔ Forward-planned schedules and structured prep time
✔ No split shifts, supporting genuine work-life balance
✔ Year-round operation providing long-term stability
✔ Creative input into seasonal menu development
✔ Supportive, family-run environment
✔ Beautiful rural location with free on-site parking

The Role

The Head Chef will take full responsibility for delivering exceptional food across luxury weddings and multi-day events of up to 140 guests.

Events typically span two days, allowing for a varied and high-quality food offering, including:

  • Welcome dining
  • Breakfast service
  • Canapés
  • Evening feasts and buffets
  • The main event dining experience

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Seasonal menu development and planning
    • Full kitchen management and standards
    • Food safety and compliance
    • Supplier relationships and stock control
    • Budget and GP management
    • Team leadership, training, and rota planning

This is an environment where organisation, consistency, and attention to detail are essential.

      Candidate Profile

      The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

      • Proven experience as a Head Chef, or a Senior Sous Chef ready to progress
      • Strong leadership and team development skills
      • Excellent organisational and forward-planning ability
      • Solid financial understanding (food cost control and budgeting)
      • A passion for modern British cuisine using seasonal produce
      • Calm and confident leadership during service

A full driving licence and access to transport are essential due to the rural location.

        What’s on Offer
        • Salary from £40,000 depending on experience
        • Pension scheme
        • Staff meals provided
        • Free on-site parking
        • Staff events
        • Long-term career stability
        • A structured working environment supporting work-life balance
          The Opportunity

This established venue has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional weddings and private events. With a full forward booking diary and supportive ownership, this is a rare opportunity for a Head Chef to lead a well-organised kitchen with both stability and creative input.

Applications are encouraged from candidates seeking a more balanced, structured approach to high-quality hospitality.
