Summary
Job plan: PAs for direct patient care & SPAs to support revalidation activities including CPD & educational supervision/teaching. Must possess MRCP or equivalent; be on the Specialist Register in Geriatric & General Medicine or within 6 months of CCT in Geriatric & General Medicine. Applicants must be entered onto the GMC register. CLINICAL CARE *Care of inpatients or older adults referred to the front door frailty teams *Administrative duties related to patient care *Contribution to undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical education activity, including AHPs as part of the multidisciplinary team. *Regular participation in departmental and directorate meetings. *Consultants are encouraged and supported with research projects. *Provision of cover for Consultant colleagues periods of leave in accordance with arrangements agreed within Trust policy. *To help the department and Trust in emergencies. Appropriate evening and weekend on-call commitments for acute medicine and specialty MANAGEMENT, SUPERVISORY, TEACHING, TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES *All consultants in the department are managerially accountable through the Clinical Service Leads to the CDG Medical Director, who has overall responsibility for the services within the Directorate. *Candidates are required to hold CCT or equivalent in Geriatric Medicine. The successful candidates will provide necessary educational and clinical supervision for resident doctors and other health professionals working in their team. In addition, participation in the departmental and Trust wide teaching programmes for the relevant resident medical staff and members of the multidisciplinary teams is expected *RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT *Consultants are key members of the Directorate Team and are accountable and responsible for leading changes to service that will improve the patient's experience. *To support the Clinical Service Leads in policy and strategy development as a senior member of the Directorate Management Team. *To contribute to the leadership and development of Services under the direction of the Clinical Service *Leads and CDG Medical Director and in line with the Trusts business plans.
